Business Development Manager, Merlien Institute (Full-time, Home-based)
As a Business Development Manager, your goal is to create new business by acquiring new clients and selling our sponsorship packages to our existing customers. Your tasks include prospecting, contacting and meeting potential clients, closing sales and maintaining customer relationships. You will work on a range of dedicate accounts that you will nurture and grow. In addition you will constantly be looking for new potential customers and build relationships with them.
With your consultative sales style, you will help our customers reach their target groups and the right investors through our service and conference concept. Your work is supported by marketing and presales functions, providing prospects and leads.
We are looking for:
- Strong self-motivation and the ability to create new business opportunities
- Genuine passion for sales and the drive to be a top scorer
- Consultative approach to sales, with curiosity and ability to listen
- Great communication skills with ability to excite and convince others
- 2-4 years previous conference sales experience
- Knowledge of the market research industry is preferred
- Fluent English is required for this position. Additional languages are considered as an advantage
- Team player with positive impact to the working atmosphere

Conference Producer, Merlien Institute (Full-time, Home-based), Europe/US
The Role
This is an independent contractor role (full time) for a Conference Producer at Merlien Institute based out of Europe. The Conference Producer will research and validate conference topics, build compelling program agendas, and identify key trends in market research, insights, and innovation. Responsibilities include recruiting and managing speakers, conducting outreach to industry experts, and maintaining strong relationships with sponsors and partners. The role involves writing conference content such as session descriptions, promotional copy, and speaker briefs, as well as coordinating timelines and deliverables with marketing, sales, and operations teams. The Conference Producer will track event performance, gather feedback, and recommend improvements to ensure each event meets audience needs and commercial objectives.
Qualifications
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills (English), including the ability to draft clear agendas, session descriptions, and promotional content.
- Proven experience in conference production, event content development, ideally in Consumer Insights, User Research, or related fields.
- Strong research and analytical abilities to identify relevant themes, validate topics, and understand audience needs.
- Confident stakeholder management and relationship-building skills with speakers, sponsors, partners, and internal teams.
- Solid project management skills, including planning, prioritization, and meeting deadlines across multiple events or projects.
- Comfort with remote collaboration tools and CRM or event management platforms; proficiency in standard office software (e.g., MS Office, Hubspot…)
- Ability to work independently in a remote setting while contributing effectively to a distributed team.
- Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field (e.g., Business, Marketing, Communications, Social Sciences) or equivalent professional experience.
- Willingness to travel to events and conferences as required.
- Curiosity about new technologies, innovation trends, and the global insights and marketing research landscape.
