How Artificial Intelligence is Transforming the Landscape of Market Research

AI and Artificial intelligence. Dosik Bang, Head of Market Insights and Distinguished Market Intelligence at IBM, will be joining us at the MRMW APAC 2024 conference. He will share his advice and pointers on how to use prompt engineering and other methods on the newest Gen AI platforms for market analysis and research.

MRMW: We are thrilled to have you on board as a Speaker at the MRMW APAC conference. Without giving too much away, what’s the core message of your talk and what would you like our delegates to remember?

Dosik: We have just entered the third age of digital transformation, the Age of AI, following the Age of Internet in 1994 and Age of Mobile in 2007. In the new age, Gen AI and Chat GPT are revolutionizing the way we generate and communicate insights, offering unprecedented opportunities to unlock new possibilities and drive innovation in the field of market research and insights. As professionals, it is imperative that we not merely react to this change but to actively learn and harness the full potential of AI to stay competitive in what would be a hostile but rewarding landscape. In the upcoming session, I will also be sharing tips and guidance on effectively employing prompt engineering and other techniques on the latest Gen AI platforms for market research and analysis.

MRMW: Can you tell us how the B2B space has evolved and what role does insights and market research play in this area?

Dosik: B2B end-users and purchasing decision-makers have all enjoyed the best of personalized, data-driven digital experiences as consumers and now demand nothing less from B2B providers. Insights and market research services have also evolved to meet these heightened expectations: Shift from surveys to online research, social listening, big data analysis and now emergence of AI.

MRMW: What motivates you to join MRMW APAC 2023 and what are your expectations?

Dosik: As a 20-year veteran in the market research and insights profession, I am thrilled to join MRMW APAC 2024, Asia’s foremost market research conference, where I can connect with like-minded professionals to exchange meaningful insights. This year’s session will be even more timely as we will delve into the implications of AI in our field of market research and insights.

MRMW: What are the current challenges in Market Research & Insights from an APAC perspective? As a Research Leader, how do you try to overcome them?

Dosik: Emergence of AI, spurred by introduction of Generative AI technology like ChatGPT, will disrupt the field of market research and insights forever. I am striving to strike a balance between the imperative to experiment and innovate with the technology, and the necessity to govern and ensure its ethical adoption.

MRMW: What are your thoughts on the future of Insights? And what role will AI play?

Dosik: Insights professionals will need to focus on generating high-value insights, as AI will increasingly contribute to real-time personalized insights. Our expertise in consultative engagement, critical thinking, and storytelling, based on contextual understanding, creativity, and emotional intelligence, will be even more essential.

MRMW: Outside of work, what does Dosik like to do?

Dosik: I am a certified race marshal for Formula 1, participating in Singapore Grand Prix, Korea Grand Prix and other motorsports since 2011.
