Disruption and Consolidation

Disruption and Consolidation: Industry opportunities for the taking

Disruption and consolidation – two terms that are top of mind of most executives these days. Amongst a range of new and exciting speakers, Insight Extravaganza 2023 will also feature a “best of” compiled of previous speakers at our MRMW and Qual360 conferences who are back by popular demand. One of them is David Iudica, who presented previously sharing experiences and perspectives from his work at Facebook. As part of our speaker interview series, we were happy to get the chance to catch up with David ahead of his talk at IE2023.

IE 2023: David, without giving too much away, what is the core message of your talk about disruption and consolidation – and what would you like delegates to remember?

David: Throughout out modern history we’ve hit moments of inflection and ultimately have experienced intense amounts of disruption over the past several years.  In moments like these it is important to reflect on the past and how we as an industry have focused our energies to benefit from disruption.

IE 2023: What motivates you to join the Insight Extravaganza conference and what are your expectations?

David: I love sharing my own thoughts but also learning from the research community.  When we have been faced with challenging times, I have always been able to lean into our community to deliver great thinking and inspiration to see our way through.

IE 2023: How do you envision the future of market research and insights, and where do you see the industry heading?

David: I see our industry growing in different ways.  Through the marvels of AI and through the inventions of the individuals in our industry. I see us leading in this revolution, responsibly and with great care for how and what we do next.

IE 2023: What in your opinion is one very true and one very false stereotype of the industry?

David: A true stereotype of our industry is that although we have grown in size, it is still a very small community, one where we are all interconnected and have each other’s backs.  A false stereotype is that we are driven by data only.  Although data science and analytics have created so many opportunities, it is keeping the customer or the human at the center that truly differentiates us as an industry.

IE 2023: What is the best advice that you have received on your journey in this industry?

David: I believe the best advice I received was from a mentor of mine who told me to fail forward.  Approaching new challenges fearlessly and with a deep desire to learn, from our wins and from our defeats.

IE 2023: Apart from disruption and consolidation, what should delegates talk to you about at Insight Extravaganza – do you have any particular personal interests, hobbies or extracurricular activities and engagements?

David: I am an avid sports fan and will be rooting on our NY teams as they head into the playoffs when I’m not watching the last season of Succession.

IE 2023: Thank you very much David! We look foward to hearing more from you at Insight Extravaganza 2023!

IE2023 will feature David, as well as representatives from Google, Philips, Reckitt Benkiser, General Motors, Visa, Ikea, Danone, MostlyAI, Twitch, Mars, Statista, Entropik, Bayer and many more.
